One of my favorite poets is W.S. Merwin who was famous for his lovely imagist poems that are grounded in nature. This style of poetry speaks to me in a way that I find difficult to describe. To me, an imagist poem is a lovely thing. By stripping away the words, you’re left with an idea. A feeling.
I hope you enjoy the “The Red Wheelbarrow.”
The Red Wheelbarrow
by William Carlos Williams
so much depends
upon
a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens.
Normally, I love hearing a poet read their own work. I’ll share this recording of William Carlos Williams reading this poem. But somehow…I think it misses something. I think this poem should be read slowly. So you can carefully listen and digest it. Because, after all, so much depends upon a red wheel barrow…
Here is one of my favorite poems. https://www.mbird.com/2012/03/c-s-lewis-footnote-to-all-prayers/
its a sonnet. I want to have someone do it in calligraphy for me.

I do love calligraphy. That sounds like a great Christmas present for someone to give you. 🙂
