Trust
As I mentioned in my earlier blog post this week, I’ve been cultivating a playlist on spotify of songs I really enjoy (and I’m just going to own that my favorite music doesn’t necessarily need to be played on a radio station). One of the delightful re-discoveries I’ve made is the Indigo Girls. It seems like they were in the air for me this week, I heard their song “Galileo” on Monday for the first time in years and needed to listen to it about 10 times in a row (the chorus: “how long til my soul gets it right” has been on my heart all week), and then they were featured on this week’s episode of the On Being podcast and I was reminded of another one of their 90s hits “Closer to Fine” with it’s lyrics:
Yeah, we go to the Bible, we go through the work out
We read up on revival, we stand up for the lookout
There’s more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine
I’m just going to trust that I need more Indigo Girls in my life, and added all their music to my playlist.
Gratitude
This week I am grateful for dry shampoo and pre-moistened wipes. This is a busy month for my family. In addition to our regular classes, we have summer camps at our taekwondo studio. So, it’s a lot of extra hours on a week like this, and I am grateful to the universe for dry shampoo and pre-moistened wipes. I did not have as much time to shower as I would like, and dry shampoo and pre-moistened wipes (baby wipes, personal wipes, they’re all so good) really helped me feel like a person.
Inspiration
If you want to know what my “guilty pleasure” television show is – it’s Ninja Warrior. I like the Japanese version and the American version. Something about an unbeatable obstacle course, just pulls my heart strings.
This week, the first mom completed the first round of the American Ninja Warrior obstacle course at a qualifier on the West Coast, and you simply have to watch Sandy Zimmerman go through this course!
See her strength and power.
See how she gives herself time to look at each obstacle, plan how she’s going to do it, and doesn’t worry about “taking too much time.”
See how she celebrates herself at each step, and gives herself encouragement.
See how she misses the warped wall the first time, but doesn’t let that stop her.
We don’t have to be super athletes to do these things for ourselves and the women around us (and the men, too).
It’s wonderful and inspiring, and I’ve watched her video 30 times this week.
SO GOOD!

Fun
It is SO fun to live on the Space Coast of Florida. This week, Space X launched its Falcon heavy rocket in a night launch.
If you’re ever in Florida when there’s a night launch, it’s TOTALLY worth waking up for. I’ll confess, I slept through this one, but these pictures are AMAZING!

I hope you had many moments of fun, inspiration, gratitude and trust this week, too! And I encourage you to join this practice with me and Brené Brown (mostly Brené Brown).
